60 Seconds Focusing on Value:

"Dollars Stretched Tight"

(Click the Play button below to watch video)

With dollars stretched tight, it never hurts to ask for a discount. But be friendly and polite. First, be sure you're speaking to someone able to negotiate. Know what the item sells for. Even if the price is the same, still ask. There's no downside in trying for a sweeter deal. The ultimate cheapskate often receives a "nice guy" discount. If the answer is still no, flash the cash. Always question: "Are there any discounts?" The ultimate cheapskate asked for a triple A discount and was told "no". Still the hotel clerk processed a 15 percent discount which it would have been what would have been on the bill. Don't ask for a deal on Monday. Best deals are made Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Often salesmen are pressed to meet their weekly quota.
