"Where Is Happiness?"

You may be wondering. Where is happiness? Is it in romance, in driving a Ferrari or the rise of the stock market? At a recent High Holiday sermon, I learned that Denmark is the happiest country in the world. What's the key to the Danes happiness? It's that they don't have high expectations. For the Danes, happiness is not something that can be bought or given and it's not tied to the Dow Jones. Psychologist David Myers found no correlation between material wealth and happiness. It was Nathaniel Hawthorne who wrote, "Happiness is a butterfly which, when pursued, is beyond our reach. But if you sit down quietly, may land upon you."
