"Spending Creatively"

Are you finding it hard to spend extra money without feeling guilty? We're all feeling poorer, but according to Ron Lieber of the New York Times, we should remember that the majority of us are still working. So cut yourself some slack with purchases. It doesn't have to be purchases with fancy price tags. A friend bought the fanciest pizza cooking stone he could find. He now makes pizza with his teenage sons; the family enjoys this new skill and their friends love the free meal and good conversation. Economist Lieber reminds us: our job as a parent or a life partner is to create memories. The good times can be fleeting but the memories are forever.
