Memories are passed from generation to generation. So it is with Yankee Stadium. Derek Jeter gave the final farewell, where Gehrig, Ruth, Dimaggio and Mantle had spoken before. After the Yankees beat the Orioles, Sinatra's recording, "New York, New York', played over and over. Jeter, the final Yankee player to bat, made his curtain call. He said, "I got nervous if I had to do an oral book report in front of my class. I guess I've come a long way." Yogi Bera who said, "It ain't over 'til it's over", said, "I'm sorry to see it over". Outside, the marquee read, "Thanks for the memories."
