Of all the qualities that make one person more likeable than another, nothing rates higher than listening more than talking. Andrea Nierenberg's "Savvy Networking" describes the power of the tongue like this: Imagine a large ship being steered by a very small rudder. Imagine a great forest set on fire by a small spark. Likewise, the tongue as a small part of the body wages great power. These images alone make you want to "bite your tongue" before speaking out.
