"Getting Your Money's Worth" with Judith West
|John Henry Brown|
- Retired NYC Teacher; Instructor, Teachers College, Columbia University
The debate is on-going regarding rating teacher performance in our schools. John Henry Brown, retired New York City school teacher and currently English instructor at Teachers College, Columbia University, took exception to current teacher evaluation in the NEW YORK TIMES. His focus was on a teacher who received excellent reviews from her principal and praises from her colleagues and students, but rated at the bottom 7 percent based on a complex evaluation formula. How to evaluate teachers? Brown suggests that we need a multi-planked approach and "why not ask teachers for their ideas?". The discussion takes place on Getting Your Money's Worth with Judith West.
